About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized CAM Programmer to build optimized machining programs for production runs of captive large valves and drawings, design fixtures, and utilize knowledge of tooling and CAM to produce accurate parts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure personal safety and the safety of team members; assist in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
• Lead the development of CAM programs for CNC mills and lathes, maximizing quality and output.
• Write programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis machining centers, including complex surfaces.
• Retrieve and translate CAD data from customers into the proper format for offline programming software.
• Create user-friendly programs for operators of varying skill levels, focusing on ease of use.
• Troubleshoot and edit programs at machines as required.
• Assist operators with questions regarding CNC programs, part files, and inspection sheets.
• Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet requirements.
• Provide tooling and fixturing recommendations.
• Develop and manage the tool database for different machines and materials.
• Manage all shop floor programs and revisions.
• Implement probing on machines and optimize manufacturing processes.
• Create purchase requisitions for materials, cutters, and tooling.
• Generate documentation for part manufacturing, including setup sheets.
• Stay current with the latest technology and software upgrades.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, and customers.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Support safety and quality system requirements.
• Assist in quoting cycle times and prioritize continuous improvement for productivity, quality, profitability, and safety.
• Participate in new product introduction, first article machining, and program prove-out.
• Design tooling, fixtures, and assembly equipment.
• Perform CNC programming (2D and 3D) and setup/operation of CNC equipment for high-mix, low-volume manufacturing.
• Design fixtures for repetitive manufacturing, quick change, and setup.
• Train personnel in skill progression.
• Assist with job costing, estimating, and cycle time reduction.
• Engage in all levels of machining, assembly, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in CAM Programming and fixture design.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Advanced computer skills.
• Minimum skillset of a Machine Operator II.
• Experience with CAM software (SolidCam).
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with valves, castings, and mechanical components is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, and sitting.
• Must adhere to wearing appropriate PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and mask).
• Ability to work in conditions involving heat, cold, noise, vibration, dust, and fumes.
• Must be able to operate a forklift or overhead crane.
• Ability to work overtime and extended hours based on customer and company demands.
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate loud noises.
