Mountain Activities Supervisor
About the Role
The Basecamp Supervisor is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the ski shop in the absence of Base Camp management. This role oversees daily operations on the shop floor, ensuring all tasks are completed. The Supervisor manages ski and snowboard rentals, retail sales, and guest needs, while also handling staff, gear, and business flow. They must demonstrate a working knowledge of winter sports products and trends, delegate daily duties, and troubleshoot issues. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a clean workspace, merchandising retail, driving revenue, and motivating staff.
Responsibilities
- Direct day-to-day operations of the ski shop in the absence of management.
- Oversee daily tasks on the shop floor.
- Manage ski and snowboard rentals, retail sales, and guest needs.
- Handle staff, gear, and business flow.
- Demonstrate knowledge of winter sports products and trends.
- Delegate daily duties, including opening and closing tasks.
- Troubleshoot issues and address guest concerns.
- Maintain a clean workspace and merchandise retail.
- Drive revenue and motivate staff.
- Support Basecamp management with staff performance evaluations, recognition, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
- Adhere to Forbes standards and steps of service.
Qualifications
- Motivated with a positive attitude and detailed experience in winter sports.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in guest service scenarios.
- Previous ski shop, retail shop, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Windows-based applications, and internet-based software.
- Legal work authorization in the United States.
