Motor Pump Technician - Utilities Maintenance
About the role
The City of Delray Beach is seeking a Motor Pump Technician to perform a broad range of difficult technical work in the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of all pumps, motors, mechanical machinery/equipment and wells associated with the raw water well fields, water treatment plant, re-pump stations, and lift stations. This position is open to applicants in the Utilities Maintenance Division or the Public Works Storm Water Division.
Responsibilities
- Performs general and major repairs on assigned City equipment as required.
- Performs preventative maintenance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the construction, design, repair, and adjustment of a wide variety of specialized medium and heavy-duty equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of tools and equipment, as well as, specialized tools, gauges, machinery, and analyzing equipment used in the repair, service, and maintenance of pumps and motors.
- Ability to detect by inspection any worn, defective or improperly adjusted part of an assembly.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to keep accurate and timely records of repair and service operations.
- Performs other job functions as required.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED.
- Five years of experience performing master level repair in pumps and medium and heavy-duty equipment.
- Must possess a valid Florida Class 'B' CDL.
- Ability to operate and care for equipment to manufacturer's specifications and/or within the specified parameters.
- Understand, consider, and respect cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with the public and colleagues.

- Comparable combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position, may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
