Mortgage Servicing Specialist

The Washington State Housing Finance Commission (WSHFC) is seeking a full-time, permanent Mortgage Servicing Specialist in the Homeownership Division. This position reports to the Loan Servicing Administrator and administers sub-servicing oversight for Single Family Homeownership Programs, including policy review, quality monitoring, and vendor management.

The duty station is Seattle, WA. Work will be performed through a combination of teleworking and on-site work, with employees required to work in the Seattle office at least once a week. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance of the worksite.

Responsibilities

  • Review and assign monthly servicing audit report data from sub-servicer.
  • Conduct servicing audits and follow up with sub-servicer to resolve findings and create action plans.
  • Review Monthly Servicing and Quality Control Dashboards from sub-servicer.
  • Create monthly servicing and quality control dashboards for Participating Lenders.
  • Report data and outcomes to management.
  • Review monthly MERs reports and identify rejection trends for root causing.
  • Audit TOB & TOS transactions, Paid in Full, modified loans, foreclosed loans, bankruptcy, and deactivations.
  • Assist in preparing the MERs Annual Report and back up MERs Administrator duties.
  • Initiate annual vendor oversight process, review risk rating, and send document requests.
  • Review requested documentation and rate responses according to a risk matrix.
  • Participate in creating and updating the quarterly vendor performance dashboard.
  • Audit monthly portfolio summary and accounting reports.
  • Assist with resolution for outstanding monthly remittance, trail, advances, and payoff reports.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of servicing or sub-servicing oversight experience with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, and HUD (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated understanding of agency and investor servicing requirements.
  • Experience with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and HUD servicing requirements and quality control processes.
  • Skilled in quality control in accordance with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae guidelines.
  • Strong computer skills, especially Excel.
  • Ability to learn and grow, taking responsibility for increasing skills in new technologies.
  • Collaborative, customer-service focused, and able to respond empathetically to diverse needs.

Desirable Skills

  • Working knowledge of the Commission’s loan programs and down payment assistance programs.

A combination of skills, abilities, experience, and education may be substituted to demonstrate qualifications.

Pay

The hiring range for this position is $8,731 to $10,272 monthly, with a full salary range of $8,731 to $11,853 monthly. Salary may exceed this range based on experience, internal equity, and market factors.
