About the role

This is not a traditional mortgage role. As the dedicated lending partner to Tilson Homes, you will operate at the intersection of homebuilding and mortgage banking—helping customers finance custom homes built on their own land. You will engage customers early in their journey—pre-qualifying them and understanding their financial goals before construction begins—and remain their trusted advisor through completion, ultimately delivering the permanent financing that pays off the interim construction financing provided by Tilson.

Responsibilities

  • Engage Early & Pre-Qualify - Meet customers at the start of their homebuilding journey to assess qualifications and align financing with their goals.
  • Owning the Relationship - Serve as the primary mortgage advisor from initial consultation through closing.
  • Executing Construction-to-Perm Loans - Structure and originate the permanent financing that replaces interim construction funding.
  • Driving Confidence & Affordability - Clearly communicate options, payments, and strategies so customers can move forward with confidence.
  • Partnering with Builder Sales Teams - Collaborate with Tilson sales to integrate financing into the homebuying process and improve conversion.
  • Maintaining Compliance - Ensure all loans meet regulatory and company standards with accuracy and quality.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years in mortgage origination (construction or builder lending preferred)
  • Licensing: Active NMLS license (Texas required; additional states a plus)
  • Knowledge: Conventional, FHA, VA, and construction-to-perm lending
  • Consultative Approach: Ability to guide customers through complex decisions
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working closely with builder sales teams
  • Communication: Clear, proactive, and customer-first mindset
