The Mortgage Claims Specialist I plays a critical role in managing mortgage insurance claims on properties acquired by agencies or investors. This position contributes to the organization by ensuring accurate preparation, documentation, and processing of claims, which supports financial recovery and compliance. The role requires effective collaboration with clients, industry partners, and internal teams to optimize outcomes for homeowners and the servicing portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mortgage insurance claims for assigned properties.
• Reconcile all advances to include in claims.
• Validate necessary supporting documents for claims.
• Maintain clear records and reports on daily production for management.
• Assist with updating workstations for claim payments.
• Follow up and track payment of filed claims.
• Conduct research to complete daily tasks.
• Complete task queues and update internal systems accordingly.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Six months to one year of experience in default mortgage servicing, mortgage insurance claims, or the legal field.
• Time management and prioritization skills.
• Ability to make sound decisions and resolve issues independently.
• Effective communication skills in writing, in person, and by telephone.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Preferred: Knowledge of mortgage industry business practices and claims processes.
• Preferred: Experience with LPS-MSP (Mortgage Servicing Platform).

Pay

Compensation range: $16.54 - $24.71 per hour, varying by qualifications, skills, and experience.
