Monitor Technician
Location: Suffolk, VA
Work Shift: Third (Nights) 7P - 7A with rotating weekends
About the Role
Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Monitor Technician to observe, recognize, interpret, evaluate, and document EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients in order to detect deviations from the patient's norm. The role involves promptly notifying appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias, operating and utilizing the monitoring system to full capacity, and ensuring the proper and safe functioning of telemetry equipment.
Requirements
- Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire. Candidates who have not completed a program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire.
- OR 1 year of experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years (substitute for the program/course).
- Successful completion of the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool, including passing a basic arrhythmia exam, is required to be released from new employee orientation.
- One year of healthcare experience preferred.
