Monitor Technician
Supports patient care by monitoring telemetry, answering call lights and phones, assisting visitors, printing reports, and completing clerical and staffing-related paperwork for the Medical Care Unit (MCU).
Schedule
Full-Time Nights, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Three nights per week (Mon-Wed or Tues-Thurs)
Every other holiday
No weekends currently required

Alton Memorial 3rd Floor Duncan Wing, Medical Care Unit (MCU)
Role Purpose
Assists with long-term monitoring vital to patient care in the observation of patients with cardiac arrhythmia, suspected arrhythmia, drug intervention per floor with need for observation, and potential of life-threatening cardiac events. Initiates first response and responders to at-risk patients.
Responsibilities
- Supports and demonstrates the continuous improvements of quality and service.
- Observes, reports, and documents patient’s cardiac rhythm.
- Ensures that cardiac monitoring equipment is functioning appropriately.

Minimum Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: No Experience
- Supervisor Experience: No Experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Telemetry experience preferred (training provided)
- Clerical/administrative experience
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Less than 2 years of experience
- ECG Rhythm Interpretation certification

Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services, and more.
The Medical Care Unit (MCU) is a 34 private-room floor located on the 3rd floor of the New Duncan Wing. General medical care includes, but is not limited to, the following disorders: Gastrointestinal, Respiratory, Renal, Neurological, Dermatologic infections.
