Patient Care
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
- Promote patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patients, friends, identified caregivers, and family about their condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions.
- Maintain a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams and resolve patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
Professional Development
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-service training, meetings, and workshops.
Patient Safety
- Report potential and actual patient safety, concerns, medical errors, and near misses in a timely manner through the chain of command and document within the PSN system.
- Interpret, document rhythm strips, monitor designated patients, and notify appropriate personnel of changes and life-threatening rhythms.
- Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk.
- Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right."
Compliance
- Participate in hospital strategic initiatives such as quality improvement and monitoring TJC compliance.
- Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care including equipment and material resources.
Documenting Patient Status
- Able to assess and document evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status.
- Able to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and/or paper documentation tools in a timely and accurate manner.
Observation and Reporting
- Observe patient to ensure their safety and well-being; report observations to nurse or appropriate designee; assist patient and family members with any needs and questions within established parameters.

Clerical Duties
- Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of assigned area as required.
Other Duties
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Essential - High School or GED Equivalent; Training Essential - Education specialization: MA or PCT or CNA or DD214 or 2 sem nurs schl or UNMH Tech.
- Experience: Essential - 1 year recent experience directly related to Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo credentials.
