Monitor Tech Unit Coordinator
About the role
Identifies, prioritizes, and transcribes all types of physician orders by completing the patient Kardex, proper care map, and making necessary requisitions.
Notifies and calls other departments or physicians when necessary and places appropriate information on the chart, chart forms, computer, and electronic record.
Accesses the medication room to place meds in a secure area upon medication arrival to the floor.
Performs indirect patient care duties related to admission, transfer, and discharge.
Posts pertinent patient data timely.
Responds appropriately in emergency situations.
Interacts with patients appropriate to age, acuity, and culture.
Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities and accurately documents and monitors activities as needed.
Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.

- Sufficient knowledge of English and spelling to perform various non-clinical duties.

- Monitor technician experience or successful completion of a Monitor Technician training program or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work well as a team member.

- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer skills and literacy.
- Ability to use machines, tools, equipment, and work aids as necessary to perform job duties.
Requirements
- High School Grad or Equiv
- Technical/Vocational School
- Field Of Study
- Monitor technician experience or successful completion of a Monitor Technician training program or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)
- National Association Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)
