Monitor Tech CVCU

Responsibilities

• Operates complex cardiac monitoring systems, including ECG rhythm screens, computerized dysrhythmia detection system, and rhythm strip printers
• Maintains accurate, neat account of patients’ cardiac monitoring status during episode of care
• Identifies and records patient rhythm in patient log as appropriate
• Versibly communicates report on pertinent patient/monitor data to/from appropriate colleagues
• During code situations, maintains contact with appropriate staff to assist with rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia detection
• Contact biomedical engineering in a timely manner when the monitor equipment malfunctions
• Ensures and maintains proper operation and upkeep of monitoring equipment

Qualifications

• Preferrably medical or monitor tech experience
• Central Monitoring Unit: Requires validation of competency by scoring a minimum of 90% on the Basic Dysrhythmia test
