Final Filing Date: 09/11/2026 This position offers an exciting opportunity to join the Collaborative Ecological Studies Unit at the Department of Water Resources (DWR). Under the general direction of the Collaborative Ecological Studies (CES) Unit Manager, the incumbent will conduct genetic monitoring and molecular ecological studies for water management decision-making within the San Francisco Estuary. In this capacity, the incumbent is responsible for genetic sample processing, data collection, field activities, analysis, and reporting of applied genetic studies that are responsive to the research needs identified within the Incidental Take Permit (ITP), Biological Opinions (BiOps), and water rights decisions. As part of the Interagency Ecological Program (IEP) and the DWR Collaborative Science & Innovation (CSI) section, the incumbent will prioritize the use of innovative technology and collaborative partnerships to advance DWR's efforts to have scientific evidence drive policy and management decision-making critical to the State's water supply operation and planning.
