About the role

The Senior Scientist, Molecular Biology, Cell Therapy will lead bench-scale design and manufacturing of novel CAR constructs in a dynamic, collaborative environment. The role demands deep expertise in molecular biology techniques, a strong problem-solving mindset, and close collaboration with software engineers and cell-engineering scientists to drive innovative cell therapy projects from conception to execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead bench design, cloning, and manufacture of CAR constructs discovered via high-throughput platforms
  • Independently plan, execute, and troubleshoot molecular biology experiments
  • Develop and validate protocols for complex library assembly and define quality-control metrics
  • Align molecular workflows with ongoing gene-editing and cell-engineering projects
  • Maintain organized, timely electronic lab notebook records
  • Collaborate with software engineers and computational scientists on workflow design, data analysis, and automation
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical leadership; contribute to SOP and protocol generation
  • Support project planning, timeline estimation, status reporting, and identify technical risks and mitigation strategies

Requirements

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, Bioengineering, or related field (or MS with 5+ years’ industry experience)
  • Minimum 3 years’ hands-on molecular biology experience post-degree
  • Deep expertise in molecular cloning methods (Gibson, Golden Gate, restriction/ligation), PCR/qPCR, DNA/RNA isolation, and plasmid design
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing workflows, including library prep and quality control
  • Background in viral vector optimization or non-viral gene delivery methods
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to improve assay robustness
  • Experience using electronic lab notebooks and careful record-keeping
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, including experience working with computational and engineering teams and familiarity with data pipelines and basic Python/R scripting

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with high-throughput cloning approaches
  • Familiarity with laboratory automation tools (e.g., liquid-handling robots)
  • Demonstrated creativity and an innovative, enthusiastic mindset: seeking candidates who enjoy creating and optimizing new solutions, not just following established routines
  • Experience with flow cytometry/FACS, fluorescence microscopy, and basic cell culture systems
  • Knowledge of collaborative and project management tools helpful for cross-functional teamwork
