Position Summary

Setup, operate and tend to silicone rubber injection molding presses and mold rubber products to meet customer specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setup, operate and tend to silicone rubber injection molding machines to mold parts and meet customer requirements.
  • Read specifications, blueprints, and work orders to determine setups, temperatures, and time settings required to mold rubber materials, as well as plan production sequences.
  • Observe continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure proper functionality and to ensure that molded components meet specifications and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Measure and visually inspect molded components for surface and dimension defects and to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Preparation of all molds and components prior to molding.
  • Perform basic maintenance work on molds, rails, pins and mold presses, including all tooling.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed and maintain maintenance logs.
  • Adjust valves and dials of machines to regulate pressure, temperature, speed and feed rates, and to set cycle times.
  • Remove parts and dies from machines as production runs are finished.
  • Ssmooth and clean inner surfaces of molds.
  • Inspection, and verification/validation for molds and mold pins.
  • Cleaning/deflashing of molded components.
  • Track inventory levels of silicone.
  • Meet established setup and production efficiency and effectiveness standards.
  • Ensure proper and complete documentation of all required paperwork and production data in ERP system. Maintain all documentation as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • 1-3 years of silicone injection molding experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
  • Proficient in the use of calipers, micrometers, pin gauges and drop indicators.
  • Experience is ISO/FDA environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control.
  • Excellent manual dexterity, hand/eye coordination.
  • Able to be highly accurate with a high attention to detail.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Able to read and comprehend work instructions.
  • Able to repeat the same physical and mental activities over and over.
  • Able to maintain a sense of urgency, handle stressful situations, multitask and ability to prioritize work.
  • Able to work in a team environment as well as autonomously.
  • Able to communicate and interact effectively, professionally and constructively.

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that can be distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Includes exposure to extreme heat from molding presses.
  • Work environment is temperature controlled.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand or walk; use hands, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to stand for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Requires repetitive movement.
  • Requires bending and twisting.

Education, Certifications, and/or Licenses Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
