Mold Setter - 3rd Shift
About the role
Efficiently and effectively assist with the satisfactory completion and administration of the following items in order to meet the needs of both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Safely install/set molds and remove them from the molding machines.
- Complete required mold activities for an assigned cell while consistently maintaining product quality and safe work practices.
- Load and position tools into presses and perform changeovers.
- Complete mold changes maintaining SMED practices to reduce changeover time.
- Organize and prioritize in order to meet goals.
- Change molds per schedule in a timely manner to reduce downtime and keep production running.
- Operate the forklift to move and set molds inside the press.
- Perform preventive maintenance on molds before removing and place molds in correct locations.
- Responsible for maintenance and cleaning of machines and grease pit as needed.
- Complete re-work and repair activities as needed and as requested by the Supervisor / Group Lead.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards and absolute personal and intellectual integrity.
- Assure a quality focus is always maintained within the production cell.
- Demonstrate an understanding of equipment functionality within the scope of responsibility.
- Demonstrate an ability to troubleshoot equipment within the scope of responsibility.
- Report any production/tool/equipment abnormalities as they arise within cells under the assigned scope of responsibility.
- Keep supervisor informed of cell activity including but not limited to information related to quality, parts supply, and safety issues that may occur within the scope of responsibility.
- Follow the processes dictated by the standard work instructions.
- Perform quality checks per quality control plan.
- Address all quality concerns via the appropriate channel for cells within the scope of responsibility.
- Ensure the work environment is clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards (5S).
- Must assure that all personnel involved in the actual machine set up are following the company Lock Out/Tag Out program.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards and absolute personal and intellectual integrity.
- Other activities as needed.
Qualifications, Requirements, And Essential Job Functions
- Mold and Machine Maintenance Skills: 5 years of solid manufacturing/production experience.
- Skilled in molding parameters (Resin pressure, Catalyst pressure, mold alignment, pumping speed, molding temperatures, gun tip size, plates on the molds, etc.) and how they interrelate in establishing a process that yields a consistent molded product.
- Strong mechanical ability.
- Good reading, writing and math skills.
- Satisfactory completion of a 30-60-90 day review program.
- Successful interaction in a cross-functional team environment.
- Must possess the ability to learn and retain.
- Must be able to work the assigned overtime to cover functions of this position as assigned.
- Must be willing to work assigned shift and overtime.
- Must be willing and able to comply with plant safety policies.
