About the role
This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining molds used in the injection molding process within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Work in a neat and orderly manner
- Repair molds in accordance with Tool Shop Work Instructions
- Work with more advanced associates to accomplish repairs
- Work with a variety of associates within the company to accomplish organized objectives
- Tear down and assemble molds
- Change core inserts & orifice sizes
- Troubleshoot mold problems
- Use precision tools and bench work
- Understand workings of molds to assist with improvements
- Clean Shop as needed
- Be able to lead a repair operation and keep it moving toward completion
- Analyze parts and plan repair procedures
- Detect possible future problems or existing problems during the course of preventive maintenance
- Follow applicable Food Safety and cGMP polices
Requirements
- 2 year degree in machining trades technology (Tool & Die or Injection Mold Tooling) from Vincennes University or equivalent
- Machine shop mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry)
- Able to run conventional machine shop machines (including CNC equipment)
- Able to work independently and with others
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong problem solving skills
- Able to read and interpret written documents
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee required to climb or balance and stoop or crouch.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to various types of equipment that have vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection.
