Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cut frozen sections of tissue specimens utilizing Mohs surgical techniques
  • Process and embed tissue samples accurately and efficiently for histopathological examination
  • Perform staining techniques for slide preparation and ensure quality control measures are met
  • Document all steps and processes associated with specimen processing and maintain accurate records
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to support uninterrupted workflow
  • Collaborate with the surgical and clinical teams to ensure a seamless operation during Mohs procedures
  • Provide guidance and support to other laboratory staff as necessary
  • Engage in continuous education and training to improve histotechnical skills and knowledge

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Histotechnology or a related field
  • Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) is preferred
  • Prior experience within a histology or Mohs laboratory is strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members and patients
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
