Responsibilities
- Assist in metallurgical studies by executing sampling plans, preparing, and analyzing samples both in a lab and process plant setting.
- Perform routine sampling, metallurgical lab test work, and data entry/analysis.
- Lab tests include, but are not limited to, acid leach tests, carbon quality control testing, plant sampling, solution analysis, sample preparation, particle size analysis, and plant inventory sampling.
- Maintain laboratory and analytical equipment used in the process facility.
- Ordering and stocking of process laboratory supplies.
- Assists in reviewing new or enhanced metallurgical testing equipment or protocols.
- Assists in evaluating and administering contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
- Develops and maintains an understanding of applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, State and Federal regulations applicable to area of assignment.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Two (2) years’ experience in a metallurgical lab preferred.
- Knowledge of the basic principles and methods used in metallurgical, laboratory and processing analyses preferred.
- Ability to collect samples, process and accurately report on results required.
- Working ability in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) required.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions required.
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards required.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing required.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds at knee height required.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders required.
- Ability to work in a team orientated environment with others required.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of this position required.
- Proficiency with LabWare Lab Information Management System (LIMS) preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
