Shift: Days, 7:00am to 7:30pm, every other weekend is required.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a mobility and movement specialist, supporting nursing and therapy teams in safely mobilizing patients—transfers, lifts, ambulation, and repositioning.
- Educate and coach staff on proper use of mobility aids, lift equipment, and safe movement techniques.
- Promote early and progressive mobility, partnering with physical therapy and nursing staff to align mobility goals with individualized care plans.
- Proactively round on assigned units to identify patients appropriate for activity progression (e.g. up in chair, walking), ensuring timely interventions and safe participation.
- Support hospital wide fall prevention strategies, observing patient condition for issues like skin breakdown, and responding to the mobility needs of nursing and therapy departments.
- Coach and cue patients during mobility activities, encouraging independence and reinforcing therapy techniques such as gait training, balance, and postural control.
- Utilize and maintain all lift equipment and mobility devices; ensure staff adherence to safe patient handling protocols.
- Accurately document mobility activity, patient response, and level of assistance in the EMR.
- Collaborate with therapy and nursing teams to prevent falls, pressure injuries, and musculoskeletal strain—for both patients and staff.
- Participate in quality improvement and data collection initiatives focused on functional outcomes, patient participation, and safety metrics.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully functional inventory of mobility and lifting equipment.
Qualifications
- Graduate of or current certification as a Physical Therapy Aide, Rehab Tech, EMT, or Nursing Assistant.
- Current BLS certification required (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
- Prior experience in patient care, rehabilitation, or therapy support strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of body mechanics, functional mobility, and safe transfer techniques.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and situational awareness skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, accountability, and patient-centered care.
