Mobile Service Technician

We are hiring a Mobile Service Technician to travel to customer sites and safely maintain a varied fleet of equipment. This role primarily covers the Charlotte market and the Spartanburg/Greenville, SC area, with occasional coverage for other service trucks as needed.

About the role

The primary focus will be preventative maintenance, tires, and minor repairs on both Class 8 Trucks and Trailers. Occasional overnight stays may be required (hotels provided), depending on the scope and location of work.

Responsibilities

• Make various adjustments, alignments, and repairs to correct vehicle deficiencies
• Conduct inspections, test drives, and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition
• Test engine safety and combustion control standards to comply with federal and state vehicle requirements
• Record services and repairs to maintain accurate vehicle records
• Complete preventative maintenance, install part upgrades, winterize vehicles, and control corrosion
• Follow operating instructions, troubleshoot breakdowns, maintain supplies, perform preventative maintenance, and call for repairs on shop equipment
• Place orders and keep stock of inventory to ensure necessary supplies are available
• Collaborate with coworkers to complete repairs in a timely manner
• Stay up to date on industry advances through publications, peer discussions, continuing education, and industry-related forums
• Perform electrical repair and diagnostics

Requirements

• Clean Motor Vehicle Report
• Ability to pass a background check (no priors within the last 7 years)
• CDL preferred
• Thorough knowledge and experience with DOT and OSHA regulations and reporting requirements
• Mechanical aptitude
• Experience in troubleshooting and repairs involving the most recent technology
• Electrical repair and diagnostics experience
• Knowledge of FMCSA maintenance guidelines and regulations
• General knowledge of preventative maintenance for Class 8 Tractor Trailers
• Basic computer skills
• Prior trucking experience a plus

Monday - Thursday, 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM
