Responsibilities
- Completing work orders involving the replacement of electrical components
- Repairing plumbing fixtures
- Repairing/replacing ceiling tiles
- Repairing leaking roofs
- General carpentry
- Building new storage space, office space, sidewalks, retaining walls, and hallways
- Inspecting rooftops, walls, walkways, light fixtures, windows, drains, etc., for preventive maintenance needs
- Troubleshooting and performing various electrical work
- Locating the cause of general building and process system malfunctions
- Handling various plumbing tasks involving a variety of materials (copper, PVC, brass and stainless materials)
- Evaluating refrigeration system performance and making necessary repairs
- Organizing work assignments and small projects where more than one mechanic is needed
- Maintaining all records and logs
- Preparing various reports
- Handling other related functions as needed
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma/GED
- Experience: 2 years’ experience handling general building issues along with the repair and maintenance of equipment
- Skills: Ability to operate hand/power tools properly and safely, strong problem-solving, organizational, multi-tasking, oral/written communication skills
- Licenses: Valid driver’s license. NYBC vehicle will be used to drive between the 6 Long Island donor sites as needed.
