About the role

The Mobile Intrack Welder is responsible for driving, operating, diagnosing, and maintaining a mobile electric flash-butt welding machine. Work includes driving a welding truck (CDL required) to and from work locations and setting the welding truck on the track.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Intrack Welding functions.
  • Perform job duties in a safe and professional manner.
  • Supervise and lead a small group.
  • Report customer and production status in a professional and timely manner.
  • Read precision instruments and gauges.
  • Perform QA inspections as required.
  • Set up and perform weld operations including:
    • Moving jack stands into place prior to making welds.
    • Cleaning and removing ballast rocks in the work area.
    • Vehicle maintenance and cleaning.
    • Truck movement while on track from work site to work site.
    • Grinding welds as needed.

Requirements

  • Valid class A driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background check.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Must be able to travel 90% of the time.
  • Ability to fill out and organize work reports.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.

Skills

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and customers.
  • Background in heavy mechanical/electrical machines and equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Works both indoors and outdoors.
  • Travels to field locations to provide repairs or maintenance.
  • Frequently performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and handling of materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Uses hands and fingers to operate equipment and tools involved in repairs.
  • Lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery, and tools up to 50 pounds.
  • Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.
  • Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
  • May be exposed to harsh weather conditions.
  • May be exposed to loud noise.
