About the role
Provide a range of furniture repair and restoration services at various residential and commercial customer locations. This includes assessing damage, performing touch-ups, refinishing, and making minor repairs while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining a professional image. This position requires a high degree of independence and self-management.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer locations (homes, offices, etc.) as scheduled to perform furniture touch-up, refinishing, and repair services.
- Inspect the furniture to assess damage and determine appropriate repair or refinishing methods.
- Perform touch-ups to repair minor scratches, dents, chips, and other cosmetic imperfections using appropriate materials and techniques.
- Refinish furniture pieces, including stripping, sanding, staining, and applying topcoats, as needed (partial or full refinishing).
- Repair minor structural damages such as loose joints, wobbly legs, and broken hardware.
- Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner, explaining repair processes and answering questions.
- Maintain and organize a mobile inventory of tools, supplies, and materials needed for on-site repairs, ensuring adequate stock and proper storage.
- Maintain company vehicle in clean and safe operating condition (if applicable).
- Manage daily schedule, communicate effectively with dispatch and customers, and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and meets customer expectations.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including proper handling of chemicals, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a safe work environment at customer locations.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including work orders, invoices, and customer sign-offs.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Furniture Touch-Up, Refinishing, and Repair Technician or in a related field. Experience in a mobile service environment is a plus.
- Knowledge of different wood types, finishes, staining techniques, and repair methods.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and touch-up/refinishing equipment safely and effectively.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to different situations.
- Ability to lift and move furniture pieces.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (essential).
- Reliable transportation to and from jobsites.
- Ability to pass a background check.
