About the role

Wieland is hiring a Mobile Equipment Operator I to operate sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment within a fast-paced warehouse distribution process in Granite City, IL. This is a fully on-site position.

Responsibilities

  • Safely maneuver motorized material handling equipment in accordance with company health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and used properly, reporting service requests as needed.
  • Properly position equipment before turning it on/off or loading/unloading.
  • Accurately select product with a high degree of precision.
  • Follow direction from department leaders and collaborate with team members to achieve department goals.
  • Efficiently move and load product from staging/storage areas into trailers.
  • Perform routine inspections of work areas to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • Adhere to company and OSHA safety procedures; report problems to supervisors, safety, or HR.
  • Follow daily procedures and protocols as outlined in job orientations and training.
  • Attend meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation.
  • Perform general labor tasks as required and assist with daily warehouse housekeeping.
  • Flexibility to work in other departments as needed.
  • Other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to forklift operations.
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, earplugs, steel-toed shoes, gloves, full body harnesses, etc.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and use respirators when required (medical clearance, fit-testing, and qualification necessary).
  • Maintain appropriate personal grooming to ensure an effective respirator seal.
  • Ability to read and understand packaging and shipping documents.
  • Dependable attendance and consistency in meeting scheduled hours.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and ask questions as needed.
  • Attentive to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of responsibility.

Physical Demands

  • Periods of standing, walking, negotiating stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks, and platforms.
  • Walking over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
  • Exposure to non-temperature-controlled production environments.
  • Manual dexterity for handling items, samples, and tools.
  • Vision abilities including close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment.
  • Ability to stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods.
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Sit for extended periods.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, touch, or manipulate items.
  • Stoop, reach, kneel, twist, and walk while handling cases of product.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $18/hr - $20/hr (final pay based on experience, skills, and qualifications).

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Weekly pay schedule.
