MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1
About the role
The primary function of this position is to operate heavy equipment for the purposes of road maintenance and construction. This position is located in District 62, Unit 776 of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Highway Foreman 2. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties with minimal supervision and able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy and specialized equipment used in road and bridge maintenance
- Aid with construction, repair, and upkeep of highways and bridges
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
- Support traffic control, cleanup, and emergency response activities
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, loading materials, and using hand and power tools

Pay
MEO-1: $16.06 hourly, receives Premium Pay of $1.00/hour for all hours worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase granted upon attainment of permanent status. Additional compensation may be considered impart with extraordinary qualifications in accordance with State Civil Service Rules and DOTD policy.
