MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1
About the role
This position offers hands-on work, paid training, and opportunities for career growth within DOTD. At the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), we plan, build, maintain, and protect the transportation systems that connect communities, support commerce, and keep Louisiana moving.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy and specialized equipment used in road and bridge maintenance
- Aid in construction, repair, and upkeep of highways and bridges
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
- Support traffic control, cleanup, and emergency response activities
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, loading materials, and using hand and power tools
- Assist or guide lower-level operators as needed

Additional compensation may be considered with extraordinary qualifications in accordance with State Civil Service Rules and DOTD policy.
Pay
MEO-1: $16.06 hourly, with a 10% base pay increase upon attainment of permanent status (where applicable).
Schedule
Positions are located in various parishes and report to the Highway Foreman. Shifts may vary based on assignment.
