About the role
Our mission is to provide riverine flood protection for an 8-parish district on the Atchafalaya and Mississippi River levees.
Job Duties
- Operate wheel-type tractors (medium weight equipment) and mowers to mow grass on levees and battures
- Make minor repairs to equipment and perform maintenance necessary to keep equipment in good working order
- Operate chain saws and hand tools to clear rights-of-way and debris
- Operate medium and heavy wheel-type tractors (90 horsepower) and 15' mowers to mow grass on levee and batters
- Operate light trucks for hauling construction materials, equipment, supplies, parts, and personnel
- Make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment
- Operation of spray equipment and hand tools to destroy unwanted weeds and brush on the levee right of way
- Perform other duties related to levee and equipment maintenance as assigned by foreman
