About the Role

The Mobile Equipment Mechanic is responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy machinery within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for various heavy equipment such as loaders, haul trucks, dozers, excavators, and more.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues, ensuring equipment operates efficiently.
  • Coordinate repairs, manage parts inventory, and schedule maintenance activities.
  • Develop seasonal work schedules, monitor equipment conditions, and oversee outsourced repairs when necessary.
  • Conduct safety inspections, report issues, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding equipment status and safety concerns.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies, promoting a safety-focused culture.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with heavy equipment maintenance in quarry or materials operations.
  • Own set of mechanic tools.
  • Commitment to safety protocols.
  • Willingness to support team duties.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and perform physical activities, including shift work and overtime.

Skills

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hydraulics, electrical, and schematic systems.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Ability to read precision measurement instruments.
  • Experience managing maintenance for a fleet and familiarity with manufacturer tracking systems.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Physical stamina, self-motivation, and teamwork orientation.

Prior experience in construction or quarry environments is preferred.
