About the Role
The Mobile Equipment Mechanic is responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy machinery within the plant.
Responsibilities
- Implement and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for various heavy equipment such as loaders, haul trucks, dozers, excavators, and more.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues, ensuring equipment operates efficiently.
- Coordinate repairs, manage parts inventory, and schedule maintenance activities.
- Develop seasonal work schedules, monitor equipment conditions, and oversee outsourced repairs when necessary.
- Conduct safety inspections, report issues, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding equipment status and safety concerns.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies, promoting a safety-focused culture.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years' experience with heavy equipment maintenance in quarry or materials operations.
- Own set of mechanic tools.
- Commitment to safety protocols.
- Willingness to support team duties.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and perform physical activities, including shift work and overtime.
Skills
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hydraulics, electrical, and schematic systems.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- Ability to read precision measurement instruments.
- Experience managing maintenance for a fleet and familiarity with manufacturer tracking systems.
- Computer literacy.
- Physical stamina, self-motivation, and teamwork orientation.
Prior experience in construction or quarry environments is preferred.
