Mobile Diesel Technician/Diesel Technician

Primary Responsibilities

• Detect and resolve vehicle malfunctions in both shop and field settings.
• Seek out and accept training and mentoring to advance career goals.
• Contact parts department for necessary components.
• Maintain accurate inventory on service vehicle.
• Achieve appropriate stock levels on service vehicle.
• Tag and save parts under warranty or as requested by the customer.
• Inspect assigned vehicle for additional service or safety-related work.
• Communicate with service management about additional work, non-need of work, or unexpected repairs.
• Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Road test vehicles as required.
• Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
• Follow service policies and procedures for safety, profitability, and accuracy.
• Achieve industry certifications as required.
• Stay updated on manufacturer updates and technical bulletins.
• Learns to use new information technology as it becomes available.
• Mentor less-skilled technicians as assigned.
• Report machinery and equipment defects and malfunctions to department management.
• Ensure vehicle cleanliness and report any changes in its appearance or condition to management.
• Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and equipment.
• Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including EPA, OSHA, and DOT.
• Report any safety issues to management immediately.
• Interact respectfully with customers in the field.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).
• Experience with heavy duty vehicles and trailers.
• Knowledge of diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
