Primary Responsibilities
- Detect and resolve vehicle malfunctions in both shop and field settings.
- Seek and accept training to advance in the career path.
- Contact the parts department for necessary components.
- Manage inventory levels on the service vehicle.
- Tag and save parts for potential warranty claims or customer requests.
- Inspect vehicles for additional services or safety recommendations.
- Communicate with management about additional work or unexpected outcomes.
- Document all repairs and recommendations on the repair order.
- Road test vehicles as needed.
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and events.
- Follow service policies and procedures to ensure safety, profitability, and accuracy.
- Achieve industry certifications as required.
- Stay updated on manufacturer updates and technical bulletins.
- Leverage new information technology as it becomes available.
- Mentor less-experienced technicians.
- Report any machinery or equipment issues to management.
- Ensure the vehicle is clean and report any changes in its condition.
- Maintain and return dealership-owned tools and equipment to their proper storage location.
- Comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Report any safety concerns to management immediately.
- Interact respectfully with customers in the field.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CDL).
- Experience in heavy duty truck and trailer maintenance.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulations.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
