About the role
At Hunter Truck, our people are the heart of everything we do. Since 1938, our family-owned Peterbilt dealership has built its reputation on integrity, teamwork, and outstanding service across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New Jersey, and New York. This position offers a full-time schedule from Monday through Friday, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, with eligibility for a pay differential and a sign-on bonus for expert and master-level diesel technicians.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
- Perform minor to advanced repairs as outlined on the repair order.
- Diagnose causes of malfunctions and complete repairs as directed by a supervisor.
- Aid other technicians on major repairs.
- Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Save and tag warranty or customer-requested parts.
- Examine vehicles for additional safety or service needs.
- Document all work performed and recommended, including warranty information.
- Road test vehicles as required or refer to test technician.
- Keep work area, service truck, and customer vehicles clean and organized.
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
- Follow all federal, state, and local regulations, and adhere to Hunter Truck safety policies.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of diesel engine operation.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and repair tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to diagnose and repair engine issues with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of industry-standard diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow and lead others in safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Vocational/technical school graduate with a minimum of three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Experience in engine and driveline troubleshooting.
- Experience in electrical repair and air conditioning systems.
- Component overhaul experience and/or specialty (A/C or electrical) experience.
- Ability to obtain passing grade during Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and/or vendor training.
- Supply of most hand tools to complete most repairs.

Pay
Second shift is eligible for a pay differential. Expert and Master-Level Diesel Technicians will also earn a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM.
