About the role

MHC, North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership and leasing group, is seeking a Mobile Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy-duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance at customer locations. This role involves developing customer relationships to meet labor sales quotas, analyzing customer operations for service sales opportunities, and performing routine mechanical repairs with general supervision. The technician coordinates repair orders with the Service Manager and Shop Foremen, schedules work with the Service Advisor, and advises customers on needed services while suggesting additional sales opportunities.

This is a safety-sensitive position that requires strict adherence to safe work practices, proper use of safety equipment, and immediate reporting of any damage to company or customer property. The technician maintains company vehicles, documents repair work in the MHC business system, and controls business expenses within an approved budget. Additional duties include overseeing assigned customer accounts, achieving labor sales objectives, and performing other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy-duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance at customer locations.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships to achieve labor sales quotas.
  • Analyze customer operations for opportunities to increase service sales.
  • Coordinate repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen.
  • Schedule work with Service Advisor for mobile maintenance business.
  • Advise customers on needed service work and suggest additional sales (e.g., Preventive Maintenance Inspections).
  • Follow safe work practices and use safety equipment as required.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of company vehicles.
  • Report damage to company or customer property immediately.
  • Maintain favorable customer relations.
  • Document repair work and time spent in the MHC business system.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately.
  • Control business expenses and manage tooling/parts inventory on the service truck.
  • Oversee operations of assigned customers in territory and call on key accounts regularly.
  • Introduce preventive maintenance, new products, and promotions to customers.
  • Achieve labor sales objectives and quota for assigned accounts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years’ heavy-duty truck repair experience.
  • A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector certifications required.
  • Engine and Component certifications are a plus.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction and quality repairs.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Necessary tools to perform job responsibilities.
  • Class A or B CDL and/or DOT medical card may be required depending on the size of the mobile service vehicle.
