About the role

MHC, North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership and leasing group, is seeking a Mobile Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy-duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance offsite at customer locations. This role involves developing customer relationships to achieve labor sales quotas, analyzing customer operations for service sales opportunities, and performing routine mechanical repairs with general supervision. The technician coordinates repair orders with the Service Manager and Shop Foremen, schedules work with the Service Advisor, and advises customers on needed services and additional sales opportunities.

This is a safety-sensitive position that requires strict adherence to safe work practices, including the use of safety equipment and proper handling of company and customer property. The technician is responsible for maintaining company vehicles, documenting repair work, controlling business expenses, and achieving labor sales objectives for assigned accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy-duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance at customer locations.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships to achieve labor sales quotas and increase sales.
  • Analyze customer operations to identify opportunities for service sales in the designated territory.
  • Coordinate customer repair orders with the Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment.
  • Schedule work with the Service Advisor for mobile maintenance business.
  • Advise customers on needed service work and suggest additional labor, parts, and body shop sales.
  • Follow safe work practices and procedures, using safety equipment as required.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of company vehicles and report any damage to equipment or property.
  • Maintain favorable relations with customers and document repair work in the MHC business system.
  • Complete paperwork to accurately document work performed and time spent.
  • Control business expenses within the approved budget and manage tooling and parts inventory on the service truck.
  • Oversee operations of assigned customers in the territory and regularly call on key accounts.
  • Introduce preventive maintenance, new products, and promotions to customers.
  • Achieve labor sales objectives and quota for assigned accounts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of heavy-duty truck repair experience.
  • A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector certifications required; Engine and Component certifications are a plus.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction and performing quality repairs.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Necessary tools to perform job responsibilities.
  • Class A or B CDL and/or DOT medical card may be required depending on the size of the mobile service vehicle.
