About the Role

MHC is seeking a Mobile Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy-duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance offsite at customer locations. This role involves developing customer relationships to achieve labor sales quotas, analyzing customer operations for service sales opportunities, and performing routine mechanical repairs with general supervision. The technician coordinates repair orders, schedules work, and advises customers on needed services while promoting additional sales. Safety practices are critical, and the position is designated as safety-sensitive.

Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy-duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance at customer locations.
  • Develop customer relationships to achieve labor sales quotas and increase sales in assigned territory.
  • Analyze customer operations for opportunities to boost service sales.
  • Coordinate repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment.
  • Schedule work with Service Advisor for mobile maintenance business.
  • Advise customers on needed service work and suggest additional labor, parts, and body shop sales.
  • Follow safe work practices, use safety equipment, and report hazards or damage immediately.
  • Maintain company vehicles assigned to the technician.
  • Create and close repair orders in the MHC business system to document work performed and time spent.
  • Complete paperwork accurately to document repairs.
  • Control business expenses within approved budget and manage tooling/parts inventory on the service truck.
  • Oversee operations of assigned customers in territory and call on key accounts regularly.
  • Promote preventive maintenance, new products, and services to customers.
  • Achieve labor sales objectives and quota for assigned accounts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years’ heavy-duty truck repair experience.
  • A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector certifications required.
  • Engine and Component certifications are a plus.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction and quality repairs.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Necessary tools to perform job responsibilities.
  • Class A or B CDL and/or DOT medical card may be required depending on vehicle size.
