Mobile Crisis Specialist

About the role

The Mobile Crisis Specialist provides direct support to individuals in crisis through a mobile crisis team (MCT). This behavioral health practitioner conducts clinical assessments of individuals in crisis, focusing on crisis intervention to provide immediate care, decrease emotional distress, and reduce risk of danger or harm. Partnered with a Peer Support Specialist, the Mobile Crisis Specialist collaborates with patients to ensure appropriate care coordination, de-escalation, and stabilization.

Responsibilities

• Provide immediate support during mental health and/or substance use crises using crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
• Conduct initial crisis screening and safety assessments, including universal suicide screening using standardized tools.
• Collaborate with patients to develop safety plans and coping strategies.
• Coordinate with Crisis Receiving and Stabilization Services to determine the most appropriate level of care.
• Link clients with other healthcare providers and coordinate ongoing care.
• Work effectively as a team member, collaborating with professionals from various disciplines.
• Complete follow-up care by scheduling outpatient appointments and providing post-crisis follow-up within 72 hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree or 60 credit hours.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification (must be obtained after hire and maintained).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and First Aid certification (must be obtained after hire and maintained).
• Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and active auto insurance.
• Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks.
• Minimum age of 25 years.

Physical Requirements

• Minimal exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
• Minimal ergonomic risk for repetitive motion impairment.
• May require bending, lifting, or twisting in the work area.
• Ability to engage with patients who may become violent.
