MN State Delegated Certified Building Official On Call

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position will be responsible for overseeing building inspections, enforcing local building codes, and ensuring compliance with state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee building inspections to ensure compliance with local and state building codes
• Enforce local building codes and state regulations
• Review construction plans and issue permits as necessary
• Provide technical guidance to contractors and developers
• Respond to complaints and concerns related to building code violations
• Conduct code enforcement inspections and issue citations as needed
• Participate in public meetings and provide testimony on building code matters

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field
• Knowledge of local and state building codes and regulations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Qualifications

• Experience with building permit processing and issuance
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb stairs

Pay

$80,000 - $90,000 annually
