About the Role

Under the general supervision of the Technical Coordinator, the Tech - MLT performs waived and non-waived complexity analysis of patient specimens for diagnostic purposes and related procedures in assigned areas. Responsibilities encompass the internal functioning of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Services and its integration into the overall operations of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. This role supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and adheres to Service Excellence standards for all customer groups.

Responsibilities

  • Practice clinical laboratory science in assigned areas according to accepted standards (CAP, CLIA ’88, Joint Commission, AABB, and other regulatory agencies) and organizational policies.
  • Actively participate in the structure, review, and revision of policies and procedures.
  • Monitor quality control data and instrument maintenance.
  • Participate in maintenance and safety programs.
  • Support performance measurement, assessment, and improvement in assigned areas.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or related science preferred.
  • Experience: One year of experience preferred.
  • Certifications: ASCP, AMT, and/or NCA preferred or eligible. Technicians certified after 2004 must participate in a Certification Maintenance Program every 3 years.
  • Skills: College-level mathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills required.

  • Understanding of laboratory instrumentation and troubleshooting.
  • Quick and accurate mathematical operations.
  • Understanding of laboratory specimen processing and analysis theories.
  • Ability to multitask productively and accurately while remaining focused.
