About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Staff Machine Learning (ML) Engineer to join our pioneering team at Intelligence Org. As one of the founding engineers, you will work directly with our first engineering team members and management to define the vision, architecture, and implementation of advanced intelligence capabilities within our platform. This is a hands-on, impactful role with a focus on shaping the technical direction and delivering first-of-its-kind solutions that enhance governance, security, and trustworthiness of our products. You will be instrumental in building foundational data, evaluation, and infrastructure systems that will scale as the organization grows.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of deep applied ML/AI expertise with a proven track record of shipping production systems.
  • Experience in domains such as fraud, abuse, safety, security, or trust, especially where adversarial dynamics and high-stakes decisions are involved.
  • 8+ years of professional, hands-on software engineering experience in backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Extensive experience building and owning ML systems, including data pipelines, model serving, evaluation, and monitoring, with end-to-end product delivery.
  • Proficiency with modern AI tools and frameworks, with the ability to discern when frontier models can replace traditional ML approaches and how to combine them effectively.
  • Experience with Large Language Model (LLM)-based systems in production, including evaluation, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, retrieval, and guardrails.
  • Familiarity with the agent/MCP ecosystem.
  • Able to thrive in early-stage environments, making quick, informed decisions amidst incomplete information.
  • Strong collaboration skills, low ego, excellent communication, and a team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Design, train, evaluate, and deploy ML systems that enable governance and security features, such as prompt injection detection, behavioral anomaly detection, trust scoring, and policy recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain supporting infrastructure including data pipelines, feature stores, model serving architectures, evaluation harnesses, and feedback mechanisms to facilitate rapid iteration and continuous improvement.
  • Make pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions by leveraging frontier models, off-the-shelf tools, and managed services, while investing in custom solutions where they provide a durable competitive advantage.
  • Set and lead the technical direction for the team’s ML initiatives, owning architecture, evaluation methodologies, model lifecycle management, and quality standards for deployment.
  • Participate in recruiting efforts, mentor team members, and contribute to shaping the team as it scales.
  • Potentially participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for the Agentic Platform, carrying pager responsibility for the services you build and operate.

Benefits

  • Flexibility and freedom to work around your personal schedule.
  • Designated quarterly Whaleness Days and an end-of-year Whaleness break to promote work-life balance.
  • Home office setup support to ensure a comfortable remote working environment.
  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave after six months of employment.
  • Technology stipend of $100 USD net per month.
  • Generous PTO policy encouraging time off for personal pursuits.
  • Training stipends for conferences, courses, and professional development.
  • Equity participation, allowing employees to share in the company's growth and success.
  • Company swag and branded merchandise.
  • Comprehensive medical benefits, retirement plans, and holiday policies that vary by country.
  • Remote-first culture with offices located in Seattle and Paris, supporting diverse working preferences.
