Responsibilities

• Supervise daily staff scheduling and ensure adequate coverage for pharmacy operations
• Manage staffing needs, including coordinating adjustments for callouts and PTO
• Participate in workforce planning to support operational demands and patient volume
• Maintain drug ordering, stock, and work with the Pharmacist to help address issues
• Monitor staff workload and workflow to ensure efficiency and compliance
• Serve as a resource and point of escalation for pharmacy technicians and support staff
• Promote a positive team culture aligned with LOA’s mission and values
• Prepare sterile compounded medications, including chemotherapy and biologic agents, per physician orders
• Sort, stock, and label medications and monitor inventory in the medication dispensing cabinets and stock rooms
• Accurately calculate drug dosages, volumes, concentrations and diluents based on protocols
• Label and stage medications for double check verification and nursing administration
• Respond to the requests of healthcare providers, answer their questions, and refer various inquiries to the Pharmacist
• Comply with rules, regulations, and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy, such as using controlled system transfer devices and cleaning surfaces per USP 797 and 800 standards
• Process specialty prescriptions electronically and ensure all information is accurate and complete
• Administer medications at the counter and process payments for our Inter Office Dispensary (IOD)
• Assist with researching and applying for drug assistance programs for patients needing financial assistance for specialty oncology medications
• Initiate Prior Authorizations for oral oncology medications and injections through the IOD
• Assist with inventory management of chemotherapy agents, diluents, and supplies
• Submit paperwork for free drug reimbursement and order ahead requirements
• Call patients to schedule pick-up of oral medications and for needed information
• Monitor expiration dates and ensure proper storage conditions (including refrigeration and hazardous storage requirements)
• Cook up workflow to support efficient patient throughput in infusion center
• Communicate delays, discrepancies, or concerns to pharmacists and nursing staff
• Support a culture of safety and compliance in a high-risk oncology environment
• Measure, mix, and label medication doses or immediate use in the infusion clinic

Qualifications / Competencies

• Active South Carolina State-Certified Pharmacy Technician registration
• Minimum of 2 years of experience required
• Mixing Tech experience preferred
• Retail/Specialty Pharmacy experience preferred
• Computer skills required: electronic medical record systems, inventory and dispensary management platform, Microsoft office
• Knowledge and understanding of Community Pharmacy daily operations as they pertain to filling, processing, and/or dispensing of oral medications
• Knowledge and understanding of the practice of community-based outpatient infusion center
• Attention to detail with strong mathematical calculation skills
• Ability to work effectively with all departments and vendors
