Responsibilities
- Adheres to safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
- Follows Good Manufacturing Practices, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained.
- Reports any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately.
- Operates equipment to maintain regulatory standards and compliance at all times.
- Mix batches of product in accordance with batching and kitting instructions.
- Responsible for accurately weighting of all ingredients to ensure consistent batching of products.
- Responsible for cleaning and production set up of the mixing room including assembly and disassembly of all piping and pumps in the mixing room.
- Selects the correct production formulation in the formula editor to match production schedule.
- Ensures accuracy and quality of the individual batches to be mixed and transferred to the proper holding tank.
- Records appropriate information on batch sheets to meet Quality Assurance and regulatory compliance.
- Utilizes scales and meters as needed to get as precise and accurate readings as possible.
- Have general knowledge of the Clean in Place (CIP) system.
- Operates motorized material handling equipment.
- Manages inventory consumptions or creation in inventory management system.
- Alerts the Supervisor when major mechanical problems and process deviations occur and reports any system abnormalities to reduce the risk of, and damage to, the system or product.
- Attends and actively participates in safety meetings and trainings.
- Trains new hires as required.
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance.
- Fosters open communications and a good attitude toward work and fellow employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Educational background: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience operating mixing machinery and handling GMP’s and product specifications.
- Preferred: 2 years’ of experience operating blending equipment in a food manufacturing environment.
- Skills: SPC (weight control), ability to read, write, and comprehend shift change instructions, short correspondence, emails, and memos, ability to communicate effectively with other employees, ability to calculate general mathematics using units of weight measurement and volume, general knowledge of chemicals, basic level computer skills, necessary to operate equipment controls, ability to plan activities and work independently, maintain a positive and engaging attitude towards colleagues at work, mechanical aptitude, general knowledge of equipment and troubleshooting to correct processing deficiencies, ability to recognize and react in short time.
