About the role
Boeing’s Mission Systems Software team in Berkeley, Missouri is hiring software engineers capable of working in a collaborative integrated product team environment to implement various features of safety-critical and/or mission-critical flight software. This role spans multiple levels: Associate, Experienced, and Senior.
Engineers will gain experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle—from requirements decomposition, architecture definition, and algorithm development to software development, testing (including Hardware in the Loop), and documentation. Development occurs in a Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline using Agile methodology, emphasizing code quality, security, and automation.

More senior-level engineers will develop technical product plans, lead and mentor junior engineers, and serve as a communication liaison with senior leadership and government counterparts.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which U.S. Citizenship is required.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software integrated into embedded devices and systems, ensuring compliance with industry, customer, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into software product designs for embedded systems.
- Write and build code for embedded software to run on specialized hardware.
- Integrate embedded software with hardware components.
- Analyze, monitor, and improve the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems.
- Test and debug software for embedded devices and systems.
- Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulatory changes relevant to software development and hardware integration.
- Advise on software and hardware integration domains.
- Track and evaluate internal and supplier software team performance to ensure compliance with project plans and industry standards.
- Perform embedded software project management functions.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience programming with Go, Java, C/C++, Rust, or Python.
- Experience in systems integration with systems engineering processes and procedures.
- Strong verbal, written, teaming, technical, and integration skills.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
Qualifications
- 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Experienced Level).
- 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Senior Level).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
- Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) software build pipelines, DevOps, or DevSecOps.
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting technical problems involving computer memory or timing considerations.
- Familiarity with industry tools or development techniques such as Embedded System Software, C, C++, Rust, Linux, VxWorks, Containers, Git, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and/or Cameo.

Pay
- Associate Level: $99,450 – $134,550
- Experienced Level: $126,650 – $171,350
- Senior Level: $160,650 – $217,350
Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
