The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Mission Systems Software Developer to join Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) in Daytona Beach, Florida. BDS is a global leader in the development, production, maintenance and enhancement of fixed-wing and rotary wing aircraft, commercial and government satellites, human spaceflight programs and weapons. Core capabilities are in development, production and mission-enabling upgrades of integrated solutions. Daytona Beach is the company’s newest state-of-the-art facility focused on engineering excellence.

Our Air Dominance software engineers design, develop, and demonstrate avionics solutions for the platforms we build and upgrade. Your efforts will assist integration of innovative technologies to maintain our platform’s dominance over the battlefield. Additionally, our software engineers support the Flight Simulation products associated with our platforms. Our engineers are involved in all aspects of these programs (software requirements, design, code, and test) and our agile development approach allows new hires to quickly become impactful.

About the role

  • This position is expected to be 100% onsite at Daytona Beach, FL.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a “U.S. Person” (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
  • Requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required; an interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required).
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
  • This position is for 1st shift.

Responsibilities

  • Support software development on agile teams tasked with integrating/implementing solutions onto a platform.
  • Develop high-fidelity simulation and environment software and tool sets to enable rapid development, test, and deployment of high-quality software solutions for the war-fighter.
  • Use analytical problem-solving skills to resolve problems for the company and suppliers.
  • Apply engineering skills to deliver improved weapon system capabilities to customers.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to continuously improve processes and tools.
  • Conduct analysis using knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Document Engineering Practices for replication, scaling, and continuous improvement.
  • Work across program stakeholders and subject matter experts in various engineering disciplines (Operational Analysis, Software Engineering, Mission Systems Hardware, Flight Simulation, etc.).
  • Provide technical leadership over supporting junior engineers.

Requirements

  • 4+ years’ professional experience with any of the following software development languages: Ada, C, C++, C#, JAVA, and Python.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in a project utilizing various software development methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or other technical degree (preferred).
  • 5+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (preferred).
  • Highest level U.S. security clearance currently held or held in the past 24 months (preferred).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with stakeholders of different backgrounds and skill levels (preferred).
  • Experience developing embedded real-time software (preferred).
  • Experience developing models and simulation (preferred).
  • Experience developing Operational Flight Program (OFP) software for an aircraft platform (preferred).
  • Experience working with Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS) (preferred).
  • Experience with object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD) methodologies (preferred).
  • Experience with Agile software development (preferred).
  • Experience with open architecture constructs like Open Mission Systems (OMS), Open Communication Standard (OCS), or utilizing the Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI) (preferred).
  • Experience developing and documenting software architecture using Cameo or similar Model-Based Systems Engineering tools (preferred).
  • Experience with configuration management and collaboration tools such as Git, JIRA, Collaborator, Beyond Compare, or VersionOne (preferred).
  • Experience leading a project or technical team (preferred).

Pay

  • Experienced Engineer: $118,150.00 - $159,850.00.
  • Senior Engineer: $149,600.00 - $202,400.00.
