About the role

New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home (NMBCH) has been offering hope to children and families for over a century. Houseparents serve as everyday missionaries, living in a family‑style cottage on the Portales or Estancia campuses and parenting up to nine resident children. By joining NMCHB you will:

Portales, NM is a welcoming town of 17,000 residents, home to Eastern New Mexico University and near Cannon Air Force Base. Estancia, NM is a beautiful rural community just an hour from Albuquerque, with ample mountains and outdoor spaces to explore.

Responsibilities

• Live in a family‑style cottage on the NMBCH campus.
• Parent and provide daily care for up to nine resident children.
• Create a safe, Christ‑centered home environment.
• Work as part of a team of committed staff focused on the children’s well‑being.

Requirements

• Committed Christians actively involved in an evangelical church.
• Passionate caregivers with a strong calling to work with children from hard places.
• Team‑oriented individuals who will collaborate with staff to provide a safe and loving home.
• Houseparents may have up to two dependent children (preferably over age 10) and one well‑behaved pet (case‑by‑case basis).

Pay

Competitive Salary: $83,000 per couple.

Schedule

Work‑life balance: 16 days on and 8 days off, providing over 15 weeks off each year.
