About the role

This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Havre Sector, Mission Readiness Operations. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement.

Responsibilities

  • Confidentially assisting manager working on disciplinary and adverse actions, grievances, and changes to working conditions;
  • Acting as a liaison with Human Resources to implement resolutions to complex workforce issues;
  • Assisting in implementing policies related to workforce and position management;
  • Maintaining various reports, updating information for the agencies manning documents;
  • Cooking with supervisors and staff to ensure completion of actions and receipt of documents in a timely fashion;
  • Submitting and monitoring personnel actions;
  • Serving as liaison with Labor-Employee Relations, Equal Opportunity Commission, Office of Workers Compensation and Office of Chief Counsel for cases that have workforce implications;
  • Preparing reports with data from internal data sources and agency automated systems for managerial informational needs.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position;
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service;
  • All pre-employment processes will be conducted in English;
  • You may be required to pass a background investigation;
  • CBP follows the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures;
  • Your conduct will be subject to the ethics rules applicable to all Executive Branch employees, and to CBP employees specifically, as well as the criminal conflict of interest statutes.

Qualifications

  • To qualify for the GS-07 grade level you must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Assisting with position management, compensation and benefits, productivity, and effectiveness of program operations. Resolving workload management problems and ensuring fulfillment of mission and workforce requirements. Maintaining various electronic files and creating staffing reports. Analyzing and evaluating information to determine accuracy and make recommendations to improve operations.
  • To qualify for the GS-09 grade level you must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Handling official documentation related to workers' compensation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance. Demonstrating thorough knowledge of the workers' compensation benefit program, including detailed case management and compliance oversight. Supporting administrative projects related to workforce management, contributing to project planning, execution, and evaluation with a focus on accuracy and process improvement. Researching, compiling, and analyzing data from multiple sources to inform decision-making, identify emerging trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
