About the role

Pasadena Young Life is seeking a YoungLives coordinator to lead ministry in the area. This individual will work alongside Pasadena staff to reach teen moms and their babies, provide help for parenting, and guide them in their spiritual walk. The coordinator will also integrate leaders and ministry into the larger community fabric. The role includes organizing local summer and weekend camps for teen moms and their children. Training will be provided to navigate the complexities of this ministry.

Currently, Pasadena YoungLives consists of a group of volunteers and teen moms that meet as a monthly outreach program, along with relational and extracurricular activities.

Responsibilities

Spiritual Development

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan fostering a vibrant spiritual life, including solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and commitment to understanding God’s Word.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within an active church community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.

Leadership Development

  • Meet with volunteer leaders and area leadership regularly.
  • Recruit and train new leaders to build a team reflecting the community.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
  • Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committee members on effective teamwork and yearly ministry strategy.

Resource Development

  • Raise financial support as directed and maintain donor care practices.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to donor partners.
  • Network and develop strategic relationships with key adults (e.g., principals, pastors, parents, potential committee members).
  • Assist with camp fundraisers.

Direct Ministry

  • Engage in all three levels of contact work.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry.
  • Implement a summer and school-season camping strategy.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.

Ministry Support

  • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency using mission-wide applications.
  • Maintain accurate records of kids, leaders, and donors.
  • Provide clear, prompt, and professional communication to everyone involved in ministry.
  • Set and review a yearly strategic ministry plan to reach every kid.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs.

Training

  • Missionwide Training: None required. Optional RTD training events (e.g., New Staff Training, Winter Training, Focus Conferences, Young Life University) available upon regional director approval.
  • Regional Training: No mission-wide curriculum; regional training events may be required at the regional director’s discretion.
  • Area Training:
    • Engage in training provided by area leadership.
    • Individualized training supervised by the area director to develop spiritual maturity and personal character.
    • Program to learn and gain competency in ministry skills (e.g., The 5 C’s).
    • Familiarize with area strategy and ministry health as assigned.
    • Introduction to personal fund-raising principles, including Basic Elements for Part-time staff.

Requirements

  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

College degree preferred.

Pay

Part-time salaried role of 60 hours a month. Expected salary: $23.00–$25.00 an hour ($1,380–$1,500 a month).
