MINISTRY STAFF
The Ministry Staff reports to the City Life Site Director and serves as a key part of the leadership team, overseeing all ministry models for the chapter. This includes oversight of ministry sites, shepherding ministry staff through supervision and growth, resourcing staff for effective ministry, developing future ministry sites, community collaboration, and fund development.
About the role
The Ministry Support Staff position assists the Site Director in the daily operations of the City Life center, developing structure and organizing programs aligned with Youth For Christ’s fundamental values. This role focuses on advancing and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to area youth, working specifically with middle school students through programming and discipleship.
This is a part-time position (10-20 hours per week) with the potential to become full-time based on ministry needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director with program development, including preparation, planning, structure, and operations.
- Participate in weekly planning meetings.
- Perform RMAs (Relational Ministry Actions) according to YFC standards, primarily with middle school students.
- Develop community relationships to endorse and spread awareness of the YFC Lima City Life Center.
- Connect with area organizations, local schools, and churches to reach students and build partnerships.
- Assist the Site Director in recruiting volunteer leaders.
- Act on behalf of the Site Director in their absence.
- Support the growth of Lima City Life through engagement with youth-focused programs and events.
- Assist with ministry sites, including Juvenile Justice Ministry (JJM).
- Complete all necessary training through the YFC Hub.
- Assist with office maintenance for the Lima City Life center.
- Maintain personal spiritual development through regular engagement with Scripture and relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Share the Gospel with students and guide them through the salvation message.
- Disciple students in their walk with Christ and assist in connecting them with a church body.
- Support fundraising and campaign efforts.
Stewardship Responsibilities
- Employees may be assigned as a Primary Steward for volunteers, donors, vendors, chapters, or processes, standards, and best practices (PSBPs).
- All employees serve as Secondary Stewards, supporting the Primary Steward in specific roles such as YFC compliance, legal, risk management, strategic planning, fund development coaching, staff development, new ministry site development, or process stewardship.
Spiritual Responsibilities
As an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:
- Seek God’s guidance and wisdom through prayer and meditation for the organization and ministry initiatives.
- Participate in and lead regular times of prayer, devotion, and worship.
- Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps, and events.
- Model empathy, humility, and care for all people, promoting equity and inclusion in faith expression.
- Opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through YFC or an outside recognized body.
Requirements
- A growing follower of Christ actively involved in and supporting a local church.
- Sets a godly example in personal life for staff, volunteers, and students.
- Demonstrates a humble and teachable spirit with a commitment to regular accountability.
- Passionate about the mission and vision of YFC and willing to minister within YFC’s guidelines.
- Willing to submit to an extensive background and reference check.
- Three or more years of direct ministry experience.
- Full participation in the life of the staff, board, and volunteers.
- Ability to effectively build and lead teams and shepherd individual leaders.
- Skilled in problem-solving.

Fundraising Responsibilities
All YFC employees are expected to actively participate in stewardship activities, including:
- Extending invitations to fundraising events.
- Recruiting personal contacts as YFC donors.
- Sending letters, handwritten notes, and making personal calls to donors.
- Personally ministering to donor contacts.
