About The Role
You will contribute to mining robotics programs such as autonomous haulage support, inspection robots, teleoperation assist, and robotic drilling/material handling. You will collaborate across software, hardware, and operations to harden systems for high-dust, low-visibility, vibration-heavy field conditions using simulation and on-robot testing.
Responsibilities
- Develop autonomy features: SLAM, localization, mapping, path planning, and obstacle avoidance
- Build perception pipelines using camera, LiDAR, radar, IMU, and sensor fusion
- Integrate robotics software with industrial systems (PLC, SCADA, telemetry, fleet management)
- Design field validation test plans, fault injection, and regression testing
- Improve reliability via monitoring, logging, calibration workflows, and failure analysis
- Support simulation-to-real transfer (scenario generation, digital twins, HIL testing)
- Document safety-critical behaviors and support hazard analysis with stakeholders
Requirements
- Mid-senior experience delivering robotics/autonomous systems in production
- Strong Python and C++ skills; experience with ROS or ROS2
- Knowledge of kinematics, dynamics, controls, and state estimation (EKF/UKF)
- Experience with SLAM, planning, and motion control
- Remote collaboration skills with clear documentation and ownership
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in mining/heavy industry or other safety-critical domains
- Industrial automation protocols and PLC integration
- Simulation tooling (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, CARLA) and CI/CD for robotics
- Functional safety concepts, safety cases, and operational risk controls
- Exposure to teleoperation, remote monitoring, and edge constraints
Pay
Competitive hourly rate: $30–$50/hr (USD).
Schedule
Full-time, remote.
