About the role

The Mine Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of equipment (mainly bulldozer and excavator) used in construction, maintenance, and excavation. Key Roles / Responsibilities:

• Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in excavation and site construction.
• Properly follows company safety procedures.
• Bridges problems to the attention of the foreman, superintendent, safety director or HR manager.
• Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.
• Candidate will possess knowledge of moisture condition, cut grade, and ability to load trucks.
• Candidate will possess knowledge of cutting and filling grade.
• Prefers knowledge of GPS.

Requirements

• Must have at least 3-5 years recent experience in construction as a heavy equipment operator.
• Must be experienced bulldozer and excavator operator.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

• Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
• Prolonged periods of sitting on a forklift or other warehouse equipment.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
• Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing protection, and hard hats when needed.
• Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
• React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
• Must be able to move and lift to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
• Able to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
• Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
• Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
• Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
• Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
