About the role
The Shelly Company, a CRH company, is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to provide critical support to operations management regarding surveying, drilling, blasting, exploration, reserve evaluation, inventory management, and mine design for permitting and mine planning purposes.
Responsibilities
- Conducts inventory surveys using drone and traditional surveying methods
- Surveys various boundaries, limits, and topography for mine planning and property management
- Prepares phased short, medium, and long-term mine plans for operations management
- Uses mine planning software for various engineering projects such as overburden stripping plans, reserve estimation, exploration projects, and SEC documentation
- Serves on subcommittees consisting of employees of other CRH companies and fulfills obligations for various projects aimed at improving standards across CRH
Requirements
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures
- Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Code of Business Conduct
- Develop clear communicable plans using data-driven information to be presented to upper management
- Communicate with others and assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the key responsibilities
- Be a self-starter and able to operate under general guidelines
- Operate under pressure to complete tasks accurately and on time
- Hold highly developed oral, verbal, and written communication skills and have the ability to work with management and peers
- Show a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
- Work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
- Prioritize short and long-term expectations with minimal direction/oversight as needed
- Mentor less experienced members of the team
- Share and document knowledge that promotes the current and future success of the engineering department
- Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees
- Be highly proficient in computer and web-based applications (e.g., CAD, AggFlow, Microsoft Office Suite, Talpac and Haulsim, drone software, etc.)
- Strong word processing skills
- Obtain Part 107 Drone License Certification
- Be willing to travel and work away from home regularly
- Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Geology, or a related field from a four-year college or technical school
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred
- Experience with land surveying instruments is a plus
- Proficiency with mine planning software is required; experience with Carlson Surface Mining Module is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
