What You Will Do

The Volvo Group is a leading manufacturer of trucks, buses, construction equipment, and marine and industrial engines. Mack trucks, under the Volvo brand, are sold and serviced globally. This role involves working at the Mack Lehigh Valley Operations facility in Macungie, PA, where you will be part of a global team responsible for the production of engines, transmissions, and trucks.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work on Installation, Construction, Operation, Troubleshooting, Repairing, and Maintaining Mechanical Equipment inside and outside the plant.
  • Use prints, schematics, program documentation, service manuals, and manufactures technical bulletins as aids to complete assigned tasks.
  • Construct, install, repair, and maintain various conveyors, chain falls, concrete foundations, and other mechanical machinery used in the production process.
  • Have an understanding of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Mechanics.
  • Research part numbers for repairs, order spare parts, and manage inventory.
  • Document repairs and generate/edit prints and programs as needed.
  • Plan mechanical jobs, calculate and order supplies and materials.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
  • Work in a standing, bending, and/or stretching position.
  • Practice OSHA lock-out tag-out procedure, maintain a safe and clean work area, and adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of our customers and plant operations.
  • Work as part of a team in the production of our vehicles.
  • Have regular and punctual attendance.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
  • Work in a standing, bending, and/or stretching position.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years of on-the-job experience equivalent to Journeyman status or completion of a certified mechanical apprentice program obtaining Journeyman status.
  • A general understanding of a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Pay and Benefits

  • The current starting pay rate for this role is $39.80 with a 6% shift differential.
  • Pay progression and future increases will be governed by the collective bargaining agreement.
